Worked as a field producer, responsible for producing one of Sky’s political correspondents, who was live throughout the local elections and the Manchester mayoral election. This included swiftly departing from the Bradford election declaration to North Yorkshire, on only an hour’s notice, to secure an interview with Sir Keir Starmer, which meant coordinating with news editors and other relevant teams, whilst en route.

Working with Labour and GMCA, I managed to secure Sky News the first interview with Andy Burnham after his re-election, alongside an interview with Lucy Powell MP. Labour sources also allowed me to pass on breaking news lines for the ‘Politics Hub’ live blog about their view on the local elections and on wider-party issues. I was further responsible for flagging declaration announcements and developments on the ground.

Due to Sky being the first broadcaster to secure an interview with the re-elected mayor, they were able to capture the raw emotion he felt after winning - as seen in the interview below...
